Our Mission

Hale County Hospital is dedicated to pursuing healing, providing comfort, and delivering compassionate care that improves the physical and mental health of individuals living with acute and chronic illnesses in Hale County and surrounding communities.

We prioritize relationship-focused, community-centered healthcare, strengthened through programs, partnerships, and services that support the well-being of our patients, our neighbors, and our region.

Education is an essential part of our mission. Through experiential learning opportunities, we prepare students—from high school through graduate school—to become the next generation of healthcare professionals and community leaders, with a special commitment to serving rural and underserved communities.

What We Do

Caring For Patients

Whether you or your family need care from our award-winning outpatient clinics in Greensboro and Moundville, our inpatient and outpatient physical therapy and rehabilitation teams, our 5-star rated home health program, or services from our emergency room, laboratory, and radiology departments, Hale County Hospital is proud to serve as your hometown center for healthcare excellence in West Alabama.

Our beautifully remodeled East Wing provides inpatient care, 21-day rehabilitation, and hospice services, allowing patients to receive compassionate care close to home.

We understand that many patients are tired of driving long distances for impersonal care from providers who don’t know them or take the time to listen. Patients want doctors who understand their full health story—not just one problem at a time.

Families also often need support beyond the clinic, including transportation assistance, home visits, help managing medications, nutrition and exercise guidance, caregiver support, and community health classes.

At Hale County Hospital, we are working to change the way healthcare is delivered in rural communities. We focus on relationship-based, high-touch care that allows us to truly know our patients and understand their needs.

Our approach places strong emphasis on primary care, mental and behavioral health, and social services, while also bringing specialty expertise to our patients through video and telephone consultations integrated into primary care visits.

We also partner with local community and nonprofit organizations to provide activities, classes, and support for seniors, individuals living with mental illness, and those managing multiple chronic conditions.

This is what we mean when we say:

“Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”

Supporting Our Community

As a community health center with deep local roots, Hale County Hospital believes strongly in investing in and building partnerships within our community.

We work with local nonprofit organizations such as Project Horseshoe Farm to offer programs that support exercise, fitness, nutrition, recreation, and social connection for members of our community.

We promote health education and outreach through community health fairs, local activities, and career fairs, and through the active involvement of our staff in civic and service organizations across Hale County.

Our hospital is committed to supporting the next generation as well. We partner with local schools to provide academic support and mentorship for elementary students, and we are developing programs to help high school students prepare for in-demand careers in healthcare.

Looking ahead, we are planning additional community-based initiatives that will expand these efforts and create more opportunities for people in Hale County to learn, connect, and become healthier together.

Preparing Tomorrow’s Healthcare Leaders

Hale County Hospital is committed to helping shape tomorrow’s healthcare systems and the future of rural health through our medical, allied health, and community health leadership education and training programs.

We provide real-world community health and rural healthcare training opportunities for medical students, allied health students, residents, high school students, and others who are interested in learning how compassionate, community-centered care can improve health in rural communities.

Our programs welcome learners from across the country who want to gain hands-on experience and explore innovative approaches to rural and community healthcare.

Through these experiences, we strive to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals and community leaders who will strengthen healthcare systems and improve the well-being of underserved communities.
